The badge which i made!

Here is the badge that i made for 'Sew It Together'. Its for Becky. I enjoyed making it too. Cross stitch is a personal love of mine. The pattern for the scissors and letters in the name was from a book called 'Made In France'. Last year i also learned how to crochet with 3 ply polycotton which is where the idea came from for around the edge of the pin cushion. The name badge will attach onto our lanyards and once the event is over (unpick the clip on the back) and Becky has scissors and pincushion for her mobile sewing time which she should never lose because it has her name on it.

I'm glad that i participated in the name swap. Now i have to make five items for the swap on the day of the convention. I have a few ideas but this week i have to get cracking.

My name badge

My name badge arrived today for Sew It Together - SIT.

I absolutely love it. Lisa from The Red Thread made it for me in a name badge exchange.

I will proudly wear it at the blog craft event later this month.

It arrived wraped in tissue in a white box with red and white gift card attached.

I appreciate all the attention to detail in her work.

Thanks Lisa for your clever crafting.

So much has happened

Yes so much has happened since i last blogged. I have had a break from blogging but i'm back. I'm attending Sew It Together on 26th March which i am looking forward to. Last month my daughter started pre school which we are both enjoying very much. I even spent two hours at the library this week drinking a capuccino over reading magazines.

Here is a picture of miss C going to pre school i thought that i would share.
Till next time.
Happy crafting and bee-abi!

We visited santa today!

Yes we visited Santa at Myer in the city of Sydney today. I was very impressed. The Santa was great and very witty. We loved the train ride too very much and even wrote and posted Santa a letter. Yes we did have to que up and it was something we knew we could not rush through. All up i think we were there 70 minutes (but who was counting). I would definitely consider revisiting again next year.

My sisters wedding!

My beautifull sister was married on saturday morning up at Nelson Bay. The weather was just divine. I had a wonderfull day and it proved a little too much for my little precious one who fell asleep seated at the table. I wish them every happiness as a beautifull married couple.

Its my lucky day!

Oh my goodness. I just opened my letterbox to discover that we have won tickets to the wiggles concert in December. It was a competition in my local newspaper. I just feel so elated and gratefull to win. My nearly three year old will love it but we won't be telling her till closer to the day. It just goes to show that you never know your luck in the big city!

Birthday Cake!

Yesturday i baked a birthday cake for our wonderfull friend and good neighbour.
Well there certainly is an art to cake baking especially the birthday kind.
Firstly i overbaked the cake by 10 minutes. Hence a very crisp perimeter.
So i consulted my womans weekly kids cakes book and decided a frog it would become. So i traced a frog shape onto glad bake a traced out the shape with a knife. All good so far till some of the lower edge side came away. Oh well i will fill that in with icing i thought.

Next i don't have green colouring only rose pink. Oh well a rose pink frog it was to become. Then i didn't have enough icing to cover the top and sides (it was a coles packet buttercake mix which came with icing). Oh well i made more icing and managed to colour up the icing a very close match. Then decided while icing that the shape i had cut out worked for a fairy or angel. Our neighbour is a special angel always with a smile to greet us and makes wonderfull things in wood on his scrollsawing machine which he gifts to others. He is a real gem.
So a fairy angel it was to become. My daughter was pleading for a fairy for her and frog for our neighbour.

It all worked out in the end sharing some cake, candles and tea at afternoon tea!
I now realise that it all takes practise to make perfect!
