The Craft Room in the Hills!

Well last night was fabulous! We had nine ladies join together to share and sew together.
Lots of chatting was done exchanging laughs and learnings about each other.
Thanks for joining us. Can't wait till Thursday 4th March for our second.

More time away!

Chantelle at Cresent Head

Caught munching on the iced vovo's for morning tea at Mount Seaview

We went away for Australia Day weekend to Mount Seaview then moved onto Port Macquarie for a few nights. The weather was hot and humid. Brett had a fall on Monday while we were on an easy bush walk, which required four stitches and visits to the hospital to have it re-dressed every day till we came home. He was carrying Chantelle at the time 14kg and a 5kg camera bag and to save her from falling his right knee took all the impact. Hows this i packed a first aid kit and purified water just in case. We did need it indeed. I'm now doing a first aid course in 2010.
We stayed in our camper trailer and experienced a ripper of a storm Thursday night in Port - 5cm in 45minutes.
Chantelle loves the camper trailer and calls it her cubby house. I unfortunately have not one photo yet of us with the 'trak shak'.
Looking forward to the craft room in the hills tommorrow night and catching up with Cass who is coordinating it.

Happy New Year!

Happy New Year to you all. I was inspired by retromummy and have updated the look of my blog too which is something I had been wanting to do for some time. Lots has happened since my last post including my daughters 2nd birthday, christmas and camping on the weekend in our new camper trailer. Santa was good to me and bought me a new sewing machine too. I look forward to sharing with you in 2010 my new sewing happenings.

New Hushmatic - no more!

This machine i inherited from my mother in law. A few months ago i dusted it off and gave it some oil. I was in need of a machine who could travel to the craft room wherever if may be. So on sunday at the craft room she let out three puffs of smoke, overheated (it was a real stinker in Sydney say high thirties inside) and she is no more. So i am now on the hunt for a new machine. I have been sewing since i was in year seven at school. Pictured below is the machine which I learnt to sew on and also inherited from my mum. She is special but lives in a cabinet.
So i am excited about the prospect of a new modern machine. I am however unsure weather to spend say up to $700- $800 and have fancy stitches etc and the like or just a $300 -$400 model. At some stage in the future i want to learn to quilt too. I will really enjoy shopping for a new machine. If santa doesn't come through there is always my birthday in April.

What a find!

I popped into my local Borders today and picked up this beauty for just $2.50 yes $2.50!
It was reduced from i don't know what price originally to $4.95 and then was hanging out on the take 50% off me table for i don't know how long.
The designs are crafted from a Japanese designer called Miyako Kanamori.
I'm so excited to be able to give this creative art form a go!
Happy crafting!

Time Away!

We are just back from a holiday to Trinity Beach (10 mins north of Cairns) and surrounds in North Queensland. My sister moved there earlier this year and it was great to catch up with her. We were there 8 nights in total and i returned to catch the flu but feel much better now i am on antibiotics. I am now seriously keen to sew myself a little dress for festive time! So much so that i bought a pattern yesturday. I'm off now to buy some fabric tommorrow which i think will be suitable. More of that to come soon!

The Dress!

I had a lovely time away with the girls two weekends ago now. I had a productive time sewing this little number for my little girl. Its simplicity style 5695 view A made in size two. The yoyo details on the front are an extra touch. I loved making it and plan to make more! I'm off to the craft room now - lucky me!
