New Hushmatic - no more!

This machine i inherited from my mother in law. A few months ago i dusted it off and gave it some oil. I was in need of a machine who could travel to the craft room wherever if may be. So on sunday at the craft room she let out three puffs of smoke, overheated (it was a real stinker in Sydney say high thirties inside) and she is no more. So i am now on the hunt for a new machine. I have been sewing since i was in year seven at school. Pictured below is the machine which I learnt to sew on and also inherited from my mum. She is special but lives in a cabinet.
So i am excited about the prospect of a new modern machine. I am however unsure weather to spend say up to $700- $800 and have fancy stitches etc and the like or just a $300 -$400 model. At some stage in the future i want to learn to quilt too. I will really enjoy shopping for a new machine. If santa doesn't come through there is always my birthday in April.

What a find!

I popped into my local Borders today and picked up this beauty for just $2.50 yes $2.50!
It was reduced from i don't know what price originally to $4.95 and then was hanging out on the take 50% off me table for i don't know how long.
The designs are crafted from a Japanese designer called Miyako Kanamori.
I'm so excited to be able to give this creative art form a go!
Happy crafting!

Time Away!

We are just back from a holiday to Trinity Beach (10 mins north of Cairns) and surrounds in North Queensland. My sister moved there earlier this year and it was great to catch up with her. We were there 8 nights in total and i returned to catch the flu but feel much better now i am on antibiotics. I am now seriously keen to sew myself a little dress for festive time! So much so that i bought a pattern yesturday. I'm off now to buy some fabric tommorrow which i think will be suitable. More of that to come soon!

The Dress!

I had a lovely time away with the girls two weekends ago now. I had a productive time sewing this little number for my little girl. Its simplicity style 5695 view A made in size two. The yoyo details on the front are an extra touch. I loved making it and plan to make more! I'm off to the craft room now - lucky me!

A Day at the Show!

We had a lovely day at the stitches and craft show today in Sydney. I had my 20 month old daughter with me and we prammed our way through the show. I was so pleased this year that they had special parking for people with pushers. Extremely considerate of the organisers compared to last year. Heres my stash off goodies purchased today. I hope to return Saturday child free to enjoy more.

How Lucky am I !

Yesturday i received a lovely parcel from this lady. I was delighted to receive all these inspiring goodies inside. Thankyou so much Cass for your generous gift to celebrate three years blogging. I look forward to passing on the love with a giveaway sometime soon too!

Its finished!

I have finally finished a cardi which i was knitting for my daughter. Its taken me just over two months and i'm just thrilled with how it turned out. Oh well she will get 4 weeks of August to wear it. I will have to start her winter cardi for next year well in advance of the fall of Autumn.

Blogging for dummies

I feel so embarressed that its taken me 2 months to write my second entry. I borrowed Blogging for Dummies from the library (yes they do exist) and i hope to work through a few technical issues.

My first post!

This is my first post to my new blogsite which is in its very early stages.
I went to my local church craft meet tonight where i resurected an old folk art tray started 20 years ago and never finished. I needed to practise comma strokes before i would even contemplate the nearly complete tray. I actually enjoyed folk arting again which surprised me.
I also had a lady teach me a little more crochet. I have my eye on a pattern which i want to knit my 16 month old daughter. In the book it says crochet this in ten hours which is encouraging. I mean you have to start somewhere.
